In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, Hot Springs are no longer passive landmarks—they are a vital network of fast-travel hubs and buff stations. To unlock the full system, you must reach Episode 7: Pod and connect to The Motherhood facility.
There are 9 Hot Springs in total, all located within the Australia region. While the first two are part of the story, the remaining seven must be discovered and built using the Hot Spring Digger (unlocked after bathing in the Miracle Spring and putting the bucket on Sam's head).
These springs allow you to "Spring Jump" between discovered pools, though you cannot take cargo with you during the jump.
Once you have the Hot Spring Digger (built via PCC Lv. 2), you must "dowse" for groundwater. When you enter a general area listed below, equip the Digger and rotate Sam; the device will beep and vibrate more intensely as you face a hidden spring. Once the hologram turns blue, you can build the pool.
During the night cycle in Australia, bathe in any spring and look up at the sky. If you stare at the constellations long enough, a unique image (like Lou or a familiar director's face) will appear, unlocking the Written in the Stars trophy.
If you struggle to find the locations of these Hot Springs, we encourage you to check our Australia interactive map for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, where we have marked all of them.
| Name | Details | Map Location |
|---|---|---|
| Miracle Spring | Effect: Help the body flush out toxins. Description: The radium in the surrounding waters makes this hot spring radioactive -- although the doses of chiral radiation are so minute as to have no harmful effects on the human body. In fact, this spring is known for its reviving properties, helping the body to flush out toxins and improving it in every way. Little wonder it's known as the "Miracle Spring." | Australia |
| Heartman's Spring | Effect: Boost Stamina. Description: An indoor spring dug by the Hydrologist. Bathing in its warm sulfuric waters has a restorative effect, and suppresses any sense of nausea you might be feeling. It also boosts stamina. | Australia |
| Chiral Spring | Effect: Temporarily allowing the carrying of heavier cargo loads. Description: A sulfuric hot spring that contains molten chiralium. No toxic compounds have been detected, however, and even non-DOOMS sufferers are able to enjoy bathing here. These waters have a curious effect on bathers, temporarily allowing them to carry heavier cargo loads. | Australia |
| Healing Spring | Effect: Heals injuries and restores stamina. Description: The water in the hot spring is rich in calcium sulphates, making it effective at healing all kinds of injuries including cuts, bruises, and sprains. It also rapidly restores stamina and helps overcome fatigue. Animals in need of healing have been known to make use of this spring too. | Australia |
| Digestive Spring | Effect: Boosting the effects of anything you eat or drink. Description: The water in this chloride spring is so salty that its composition is very similar to sea water -- something that is caused by the tar from the tar lake, according to one theory. Bathing here stimulates the digestive system, boosting the effects of anything you eat or drink. | Australia |
| Recharging Spring | Effect: Generate an electrical current that can recharge a battery. Description: The special minerals at the bottom of this spring appear to have been affected by the underground tar, and now emit an electrical current that can recharge batteries. The water also has a restorative effect on the body, but be careful not to share your bath with a battery... | Australia |
| Clairovoyant Spring | Effect: Highlights nearby points of interest and items. Description: Description: This hot spring's vivid purple water is a byproduct of a special type of algae that only lives at high altitudes. Bathing here has the effect of sharpening one's senses, making you more aware of your surroundings and what they contain. | Australia |
| Tar Spring | Effect: Temporarily, you become more difficult for BTs to detect. Description: The water in this slightly alkaline hot spring contains tar particles that have seeped in from the ground below. The chiral density here is very low, however, and there is no risk of chiral contamination. The combined effect of the soil and tar in this spring makes it temporarily harder for BTs to detect you. | Australia |
| Metallic Spring | Effect: Repair any dents or cracks on the cargo containers. Description: A hot spring rich in iron. The blend of chiralium and various metals gives the surface of the water a silvery gleam. Placing cargo containers in this spring will cause the metals in the water to cling to their surface, repairing any dents or cracks. | Australia |
