Crimson Desert: Spire Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Crimson Desert Spires are towering puzzle structures found across all five regions of Pywel — each one a multi-floor mechanical challenge that must be solved from bottom to summit.


What are Spires in Crimson Desert?


Spires are puzzle towers that grant access to the Abyss. Each one must be climbed floor by floor, solving environmental puzzles unique to that structure.


Reaching the summit and stepping through the Abyss Gate teleporter at the top counts as completing the Spire, permanently unlocking that gate for future access.


Every completed Spire rewards an Abyss Artifact and opens a dedicated elevator to its associated Abyss area — a permanent farming route for Abyss Artifacts, Faded Abyss Artifacts, and elemental skill unlocks.


Conqueror of Spires: Trophy and Challenge Set


Clearing all 8 Spires completes the Lands Meet the Sky challenge category and unlocks the Conqueror of Spires trophy on PlayStation and the equivalent achievement on Xbox and PC.


This is one of the key challenge completions required for the full trophy set.


The most important strategic advice: follow the main story first. Multiple Spires cannot be completed until specific story chapters deliver the required keys or access context — attempting them before the relevant quest is reached wastes time.


Story-Gated Spires: Don't Rush Them


Several Spires are physically reachable from early in the game, but cannot be completed until the story gates them open.


  • The Spire of the Stars (Hernand, Scholastone Institute) unlocks as part of the Chapter 4 main quest — Spire of the Stars.
  • The Jijeong Temple Pagoda (Demeniss) only opens during Chapter 9's "Face the Inner Self" questline, specifically the "Six Pensive Statues and the Evil Spirit" sub-chapter.
  • The Spire of Soaring (Demeniss, Byron Estate) requires the "Toward the Nest" main quest — access the tower by using Turning Slash (R1+R2 / RB+RT) on the broken door.
  • The Spire of Clockwork (Delesyia) requires the Spire of Clockwork Key, which is a direct reward from the "A Fleeting Dream" Chapter 8 main quest and cannot be obtained any other way — do not attempt this Spire before finishing Chapter 8.
  • The Spire of the Sun (Crimson Desert, north of Burhum) may require Chapter 9 progression.


All 9 Spires — What Makes Each One Unique


No two Spires share the same puzzle mechanic. Each is built around a distinct challenge:


  • The Spire of Frost (Demeniss, Deadfire Mountain) requires lighting all 7 lanterns while ascending. Use a heavy attack on the frozen lantern outside the entrance to thaw and unlock the door first. High Ice Resistance is recommended — standing near a lit lantern prevents the passive health drain from the freezing environment. The interior and exterior staircases interweave; switch between them when one is blocked.


  • The Spire of Soaring (Demeniss) uses an Axiom Force elevator system. Stand on the elevator, use Axiom Force (L3/LB/TAB) to move the square and circular pieces on each floor to connect the current flow, then ride to the next level.


  • The Spire of Clockwork (Delesyia) is a gear-activation puzzle — use your weight to pull down handles and engage the gears as you climb, then take the exterior elevator to the summit.


  • The Spire of the Sun (Crimson Desert) is a mirror-laser puzzle. Position the mirrors on the eastern and southern cliff faces outside to channel the laser beam into the central crystal — then climb inside and adjust the interior mirrors to direct the beam all the way to the topmost crystal.


  • The Spire of Insight (Hernand, Steel Mountains) starts with two entry puzzles: burn the thorns blocking the doorway using Blinding Flash (L1+R1 / LB+RB), then pick up the Small Pebble at the base of the door and drop it into the small holder to unlock entry.


  • The Spire of Ringing Truth (Pailune, mountain summit) requires reaching the top of the tower by any available climbing route, then destroying the bell's damaged supports to bring the massive bell crashing down. Drop through the opening it creates and defeat Priscus the Ancient before continuing into the Abyss.

Name Details
Spire of the StarsHernand

A spire located within the Scholastone Institute. From its summit, one can gaze upon the Scholastone Institute, Kharonso, Calphade, and Hernand. Legend claims it was built long ago by the ancestors of trolls.


You gain access inside during the Spire of the Stars main quest.

Jijeong Temple PagodaDemeniss

A tower situated atop the Morning Mist Peaks. While the structure itself is not particularly tall compared to others, it possesses a presence that remains unrivalled. Its mysterious and alien construction evokes a sense of stability and comfort, yet commands a profound feeling of reverence.

Spire of FrostDemeniss

To enter the Spire of Frost, use a heavy attack on the frozen lantern outside the entrance, then light it to unlock and open the door to the Spire.


High Ice Resistance is recommended to go up the Spire. Make your way up the Spire using whichever path is accessible—if the interior stairs are blocked, climb the exterior staircase, and switch back when needed. Along the ascent, thaw and light all 7 lanterns. While exposed to the freezing conditions, you will gradually lose health, but standing near a lit lantern prevents damage.

Spire of SoaringDemeniss

A spire located in the Byron Estate. From its summit, one can gaze upon the Byron Estate, northern Demeniss, the Musket Military Base, and the Crimson Desert. It is said that in ages past, someone sought enlightenment by climbing and descending this spire.


You gain access inside during the Toward the Nest main quest. You must destroy the broken door with a Turning Slash (R1 + R2 on PS5).


Once inside, you need to power up the elevator. To do so, stand on the elevator, use Axiom Force (L3) to move the square pieces, and connect the current flows. On the next floor, do the same but with the large, circular piece.

Spire of ClockworkDelesyia

Found at the end of the road. Requires the Spire of Clockwork Key, which you can get towards the end of Chapter 8.


To reach the top, use your weight to pull down the handles and activate the gears up the spire. Then take the outside elevator to the summit.

Spire of the SunCrimson Desert

Found north of Burhum.


Entry method: You may need to advance to Chapter 9 in the main story. On the eastern edge of the cliff outside the Spire, position the mirrors to channel the laser into the crystal. Do the same on the southern side until the beam successfully enters the Spire and unlocks the doors.


Climbing the Spire: Once inside, adjust the mirrors again to direct the laser all the way to the topmost crystal.

Gate to AdvancementDelesyia

A spire located atop Mount Benus. Standing atop the peak, where all neighboring nations are visible, is a unique spire built by Marni. Constructed to showcase his genius to the world, the spire is a physical manifestation of Marni’s own confidence. Unlike other spires, he chose to name it as a ‘Gate,’ a decision that offers a glimpse into Marni’s distinctive personality.

Spire of Ringing TruthPailune

Found at the summit of the mountain, reachable by following the northern path.


You can reach the top of the tower using whatever methods you can and bring down the massive bell by destroying its damaged supports. Then, drop through the opening it creates below, where you’ll need to defeat Priscus the Ancient before continuing into the Abyss.

Spire of InsightHernand

A spire located in the Steel Mountains. It holds not gold or jewels you can grasp, but a trove of knowledge whose value never fades with time. Its creator intended for this wisdom to be shared by many, yet it is said that, sadly, few truly understand the importance of intellect.


To enter the Spire of Insight, you need to follow specific steps:

  • Start by standing in front of the thorns and activate the Blinding Flash learned during the tutorial (L1/LB + R1/RB) to burn them.
  • Once at the door, look down to spot a Small Pebble.
  • Pick the Small Pebble and drop it in the small holder on the door.
