Crimson Desert: Puzzle Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

In Crimson Desert, puzzles are categorized into three distinct types: Strongbox Puzzles found inside urban manors, Ancient Ruins Puzzles marked by "Mysterious Energy" (?) icons on your map, and the 40 Abyss Puzzles hidden within spiritual rifts.

To solve most of these, you must use the Visione (the golden memory-reading helmet) to see hidden symbols or the Lantern to scan for spectral clues. These challenges are designed to test your spatial reasoning, such as the rotating image of a winged girl found behind a locked door in the eastern room of Lioncrest Manor, or the complex scroll-wheel mechanisms used to secure the treasures in Stellen Manor.

Your adventure into the world of mechanical locks typically begins in the Hernand region. In the northern building of Bluemont Manor, you'll encounter the famous Owl Puzzle, where you must press the four buttons beneath a segmented image—starting with the fourth button once, then the first button four times, and finally the second and third buttons four times each—to align the owl and claim the Oath of Darkness.

Just northwest of the city, at Lioncrest Manor, a different challenge awaits; after climbing through a back window, you can claim a Gold Bar hidden beneath the fireplace by using the focus-steal mechanic while wearing your mask.

For those venturing south into the swamps, the Mudridge Cabin features two distinct sliding-tile challenges—one on the upstairs strongbox and another on the ground-floor door—which reward the Flower Petal Earring and access to rare alchemical formulas.

Beyond the manors, the landscape is dotted with "Mysterious Energy" ruins that provide Abyss Artifacts upon completion. These include the Dragon's Stone Chamber in the Hernand Highlands and the Azure Moon Labyrinth at Phoniel Ranch, both of which require you to use your lantern to activate ancient pedestals in a specific sequence.

As you reach the late-game Delesyia and Pailune regions, the puzzles become significantly more vertical, such as the Spire of Ringing Truth rotation challenge or the Stellen Manor tower room, where you must climb to a high window to access a scroll-wheel puzzle involving five distinct metal cylinders.

Whether you are shifting tiles in a swamp or navigating the invisible platforms of the Sanctorum of Insight, these puzzles are the true gatekeepers of Pywel’s most powerful artifacts, and they have been included on our interactive maps for Crimson Desert alongside instructions on how to complete them.
