Resident Evil Requiem: Crate Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

Resident Evil Requiem Crates are the game's breakable resource containers — wooden boxes scattered across every area that supplement your fixed item pickups with variable drops.

With over 100 crate locations pinned across all areas and available in the checklist below, MapMaster's crate database is the only interactive resource of its kind for RE Requiem.

What Do Crates Contain in Resident Evil Requiem?

Crate contents vary by area and difficulty, but the most common drops are Ammo, Scrap, Green Herbs, and Empty Bottles.

The game's Adaptive Difficulty system influences what drops from crates depending on your current resources — if you're critically low on Handgun Ammo, the system scales crate drops toward replenishing your most depleted resource.

Green Herbs appear more frequently in crates placed near strong enemies or doors that advance the story past a point of no return.

On Insanity difficulty, all static item pickups are significantly reduced, making crates your primary source of emergency supplies throughout the entire run.

Breaking Crates Efficiently: Always Use Melee

Always break crates with a melee strike — never waste a bullet. Using a round on a crate that yields a single handgun round is a net inventory loss.

The knife or an unarmed kick opens every standard crate in one hit. Reserve ammunition for enemies, not containers.

The Conference Room in the Care Center is one of the densest crate clusters in the early game — two crates by the wall that consistently contain Handgun Ammo.

Trigger-Gated Crates: Why Some Aren't Accessible Yet

Several crates in the checklist are only reachable after specific events or enemy defeats. The crate next to the white lockers in the Care Center cannot be smashed until Chunk has been dealt with.

The Garage crates in the Care Center only become accessible after the bulldozer breaches the wall during that section's event. In the ARK, one crate in the Bioweapon Repository requires pressing the Generator Room Switch before it can be reached.

If you arrive at a known crate location and find nothing, check whether the required trigger has been completed — consult the individual checklist entry for the access condition.

Insanity Difficulty: Crates Replace Static Pickups

On Insanity, four additional Insanity-only crates appear in the Care Center — by the sink, on a table, in a wall hole, and on the upper floor via the western ladder.

One of these specifically replaces the static Handgun Ammo pickup at that location — meaning on Standard, you collect static ammo there; on Insanity, you smash a crate instead.

The four Insanity Care Center crate locations are tagged in the checklist below with their difficulty labels.

All crate locations are marked on the Care Center interactive map, East Raccoon City map guide, Raccoon City Center map, explore the ARK, and Main Street map, with room names and access conditions.
