In FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time, Fish are the core reward of the Angler Life — caught at fish shadows across all three regions and required for numerous Hero Rank quests.

There are roughly 250 Fish locations in total: 17 in Eternia Village, 23 in Capital of Mysteria, and 210 across Ginormosia. All confirmed locations are included on our FANTASY LIFE i interactive maps.

Fish Shadows: Small vs Big

Every fishing spot displays a shadow in the water indicating what's beneath — small shadows yield common fish, while big shadows have a chance to produce rarer catches.

Most standard fish, including starter species found around Eternia Village and Capital of Mysteria, appear as small shadows near the coastline.

Casting a line at every shadow spotted while exploring is the most reliable way to catch the majority of fish without dedicated farming.

Boss Fish: A Different Kind of Catch

Several named fish in this guide — Poseidon Swordfish, Godfish, Eruptuna, Golden Swordfish, and the Lordfish variants — are Boss Fish, functioning more like combat encounters than standard catches.

The Poseidon Swordfish alone has roughly 10,000 HP and requires reeling it in like a mini-boss fight, complete with a rising "line tension" mechanic that must be managed carefully or the line snaps.

Where Boss Fish Actually Spawn

Since the 1.4.0 update, Godfish and Poseidon Swordfish can both be encountered directly in Fangshore Isles once the region reaches Area Rank 5, via the "Lordly Shark?" event — no need to rely purely on the random Treasure Grove dungeon system that previously gated them.

Legendary Rocket Fish spawns as a Legendary Event once Fangshore Isles reaches Area Rank 3, while Eruptuna is found directly in a lava pool in the Moltana Wastes at Area Rank 5.

Other boss fish, including Beelzebub Tuna, remain exclusive to randomly generated Treasure Grove dungeons and cannot be caught anywhere else.

Why Boss Fish Matter

Boss Fish Materials — Godfish Moss, Poseidon's Fin, and similar drops — are required for numerous Hero Rank quests across multiple Lives.

Since these materials can't be purchased or reliably farmed elsewhere, prioritising the Fangshore Isles "Lordly Shark?" event once it's accessible is significantly more efficient than gambling on Treasure Grove Sapling rerolls.
