Elden Ring Ghosts allow you to piece together the hidden history of the Lands Between.

These white, shimmering spirits are usually found sitting in ruins or wandering the mists of the Nightreign expansion. They are the best source for finding clues about secret items and upcoming boss fights without looking at a wiki.

Lore Ghosts of the Lands Between

Finding these spirits is an important part of understanding why the world is in ruins:

• Limgrave: Found near the Church of Elleh and the Agheel Lake South cliffs. They give early hints about the "Finger Maidens" and the dragon's arrival.
• Liurnia of the Lakes: A ghost near the Cuckoo's Evergaol provides the clue for finding the Carian Knight armor.
• Caelid: Located on the outskirts of Redmane Castle. This spirit is the best source for learning about General Radahn’s festival before you enter.
• Mountaintops of the Giants: Found near the Castle Sol entrance. This ghost is a top choice for players trying to understand the secret of the Haligtree Medallion.

Shadow of the Erdtree: Withered Spirits

In the Realm of Shadow, ghosts are important for finding your way through the confusing map:

• Gravesite Plain: Several ghosts near the Main Gate Cross explain the "Scadutree" influence and are the best way to find the first few map fragments.
• Shadow Keep: Found in the Specimen Storehouse. These spirits will help you find the hidden levers that rotate the massive center statues.
• Abyssal Woods: These ghosts act as guides because they warn you about the "Untouchable" enemies that you cannot kill with regular weapons.

2026 Nightreign: Limveld Spectral NPCs

The 2026 Nightreign update introduces Spectral Echoes in the Limveld area that only appear during specific nights.

• Forsaken Hollows: During a "Shadow Leak," ghosts of fallen warriors appear. Talking to them is the best way to find Buried Treasures that are otherwise invisible.
• The Undertaker’s Advantage: If you are playing the Undertaker class, these ghosts are more than just lore. They act as the top source for your "Spirit Echo" power, allowing you to learn their moves for your own summons.
• Great Church Ruins: A special ghost here only appears on Day Three. This spirit is the only path to learning the weakness of Heolstor the Nightlord.
