These stone prisons, locked behind magic seals across the Lands Between or hidden within the Nightreign expansion, act as challenges designed to test your skill against powerful bosses in solo combat.

Essential Early Evergaols

Beating these early is an important part of getting strong weapons and spells for the mid-game:

• Forlorn Hound Evergaol (Limgrave): Found on the high cliffs south of Agheel Lake. This is the best way to get the Bloodhound’s Fang, one of the most popular swords in the game.
• Stormhill Evergaol (Limgrave): Located just up the hill from the Gatefront. It holds a Crucible Knight, which is a top choice for players who want to practice parrying.
• Malefactor’s Evergaol (Liurnia): Found on the cliffs above the lake. This is the main source for the "Flame of the Fell God" spell.
• Cuckoo’s Evergaol (Liurnia): Located on the western side of the lake. It holds a Bols, Carian Knight, who drops a powerful magic sword skill.

Legendary Endgame Challenges

These are much harder and act as the main tests for your endgame build:

• Ringleader’s Evergaol (Liurnia - Moonlight Altar): This is a must-do fight against Alecto, Black Knife Ringleader. It is the only way to get Black Knife Tiche, the strongest spirit ash in the game.
• Lord Contender’s Evergaol (Mountaintops): Located near the freezing lake. Defeating Vyke here is a top choice for players using "Madness" builds.
• Ordina, Liturgical Town (Consecrated Snowfield): This is a puzzle-based Evergaol. Completing it is the only path to reaching the Haligtree and Malenia.

2026 Nightreign: Limveld Shifting Gaols

The 2026 Nightreign update introduces Spectral Gaols in the Limveld area that change based on "Shifting Earth" events.

• Limveld Locations: During a Nightreign Storm, new gaols appear in the Forsaken Hollows. These are required for finding the Night-Aspect armor sets.
