Elden Ring: Cookbook Locations & Interactive Tracking Guide

An Elden Ring Cookbook is the vital blueprint for mastering the art of the craft, and a must-have item for any survivor.

These forgotten guides found in merchant bags across The Lands Between or hidden in the shifting sands of Limveld allow you to turn simple plants and bones into game-changing bombs and buffs.

Essential Base Game Cookbooks

Finding these early is an important part of building your toolkit for any situation:

  • Nomadic Warrior's [1 & 2]: Bought from Merchant Kalé in the Church of Elleh. These are the basic tools for making fire grease and arrows.
  • Armorer’s [2]: Bought from the merchant near the Coastal Cave (Limgrave). This is a top choice for players who want to craft fireproof liver to survive lava and dragon fire.
  • Glintstone Craftsman’s [4]: Found in a chest in the Academy Gate Town (Liurnia). This is the main source for Magic Pots, which are great for hitting magic-weak enemies.
  • Fevor’s [1]: Found on a corpse in a graveyard south of Summonwater Village. This is the best method for getting Sleep Pots, which are a must-have for handling large trolls or the Godskin Duo.
  • Ancient Dragon Apostle’s [2]: Found on a corpse near the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge (Altus Plateau). This is the top source for lightning-based buffs.

Shadow of the Erdtree: Advanced Recipes

In the Realm of Shadow, cookbooks are required for handling higher difficulty bosses:

  • Greater Potentate’s [1]: Found in the Scorched Ruins near the start. This is useful to start making Hefty Fire Pots, which deal massive damage.
  • Battlefield Priest’s [1]: Found in the Shadow Keep (after draining the water). It provides recipes for Golden Grease to boost your Holy damage.
  • Fire Knight’s [1]: Found in the camp east of the Highroad Cross. This is a great choice for Messmerfire Grease, which is a huge help in the DLC.
  • Igon’s [1]: Found in a ruined tower on the way to the Jagged Peak. It acts as the best method for crafting Dragon Communion Harpoons.

2026 Nightreign: Limveld Alchemy

The 2026 Nightreign update introduces Night-Aspect Cookbooks that are essential for the Limveld region.

  • Scholar’s Night-Log [1]: Found in the Nightreign Castle Library. If you are playing the Scholar class, this is your main way to craft "Nightglow Oil," which is the best tool for weakening Nightlords.
  • Limveld Field Guide: These appear in Forts during "Shifting Earth" events. Finding these is an important part of the new release because they let you craft "Spectral Salts" to stay invisible to Nightglow enemies.

To help you find every recipe and fill your crafting bag, we have marked every book on our Elden Ring game maps.
