In Doom: The Dark Ages, the classic colored keycard system returns with a twist. Slayer Keys come in various forms—including traditional stone keys, glowing colored keys, and demonic skulls—and are used to open the massive gates of the Night Sentinel fortresses and the fleshy doors of Hell.
There are several keys to find across the campaign. While some are handed to you to advance the story, many are hidden in the environment, serving as the "gatekeeper" to Secret Areas containing Collectible Toys, Rubies, and Wraithstones.
Finding a Slayer Key is only part of your task; you must then locate the corresponding door within the same chapter. Note that Keys do not carry over between chapters—once you finish a mission, your key ring is reset.
Here is how these keys work:
Note: If you find a locked gate but haven't found the key yet, look for Sentinel Trail Markings (white paint on rocks). The developers often use these to lead you toward the optional platforming paths where Slayer Keys are hidden.
As these Keys are important for exploration and story progression, on our interactive Doom Dark Ages maps, we have covered all of them, complete with screenshots and instructions on how to get to them.
